About This Notebook
El Geländer was born as a space for unhurried writing in a world that seems to have forgotten the art of attentive reading. Here you will find journalistic chronicles and literary essays that seek, above all, to give back to the reader the time that haste has stolen.
Inspired by the tradition of the continental press of the interwar period —that of the ink-and-paper newspapers that were folded in the cafés of Vienna, Paris, and Buenos Aires— this site aspires to be a meeting place between the journalist’s gaze and the essayist’s pen.
We publish without haste, but with the certainty that every text deserves to be read with the same attention with which it was written.
